Severe Weather Preparedness

Resources to enhance awareness of severe weather and natural disasters before they happen

LINGLE – The Town of Lingle would like to make its citizens aware of some of the best ways to stay ahead of severe weather when it impacts the area. Goshen County Emergency Management implemented the CivicPlus Public Alert System to make it easier to receive weather alerts and critical information to Goshen County residents.

To sign up for the system, visit https://public.alertsense.com/SignUp/?RegionId=2237. Those signing up for this service will be asked to provide a phone number and/or email address. The notifications can then be sent via text message, voice call, or emails. If one wishes to subscribe through text message only, they can text GoshenCoWY to 38276.

Another way to stay informed about severe weather is to visit the National Weather Service’s website, https://www.weather.gov/cys. This website contains both graphical and textual forecast information for the area. By going to this webpage and entering Lingle’s zip code, 82223, into the box in the upper left-hand corner, the viewer will see weather-related information specific to the Lingle area.

The American Red Cross makes emergency notifications a breeze when you sign up for the American Red Cross Emergency App. This app provides the user with up-to-date emergency notifications ranging from weather and atmospheric conditions to wildfires. The application allows users to enable notifications for other locations as well. By adding other locations, one can receive emergency alerts for locations impacted where a person might frequent or where loved ones live.

To download the Emergency App, visit the Apple App Store, Google Play store, or text GETEMERGENCY to 90999.

For those who don’t have a phone capable of sending or receiving text messages, or those who don’t have access to a computer, the local radio stations are a great resource for up-to-date information on severe weather. Tune in to KGOS/KERM radio stations. KGOS is on air at 1490 AM or 99.9 FM, while KERM is on air at 98.3 FM. Additionally, the stations air their radio programs online at https://www.goconow.com.

If you need help with signing up for any of these services, please contact Lingle Town Supervisor Logan Dailey at 307-534-6509.
