LINGLE – The mayor, fire chief, and emergency management coordinator for the Town of Lingle have made the decision to permit fireworks in the Town of Lingle pursuant to the Town of Lingle’s ordinance governing fireworks.
Town ordinance allows the public to discharge fireworks within the town limits of the Town of Lingle on July 3-5 from noon to midnight. Though the public may discharge fireworks within the town of Lingle, the Stage 1 Fire Restrictions enacted by the Goshen County Fire Warden and Goshen County Commission remain in effect for Goshen County.
The Town urges the public to use extreme caution when discharging fireworks within town, and to exercise extreme caution. The Town asks the public to have a water supply readily available, whether it be a bucket of water, a garden hose, etc., to extinguish any fire which may ignite due to the discharge of fireworks. Additionally, the public should only discharge fireworks in an area clear of any burnable materials.
North Hills Baptist Church has graciously offered to allow the public to discharge fireworks on the south area of their parking lot if one is seeking a safe area to discharge fireworks. The Town asks the public to please be courteous of this gracious offer and clean up any discharged fireworks, containers, trash, etc.
Town of Lingle ordinance 4-2-4-5 states: “discharging of fireworks: it shall be unlawful for any person to shoot off or discharge any fireworks of any kind within the town except between the hours of twelve (12:00) noon and twelve (12:00) midnight on July 3, 4, 5 and ten o’clock (10:00) p.m. to twelve thirty o’clock (12:30) a.m. on New Year’s Eve. Any person who shall at any time, shoot off or discharge any fireworks of any kind or any other dangerous explosives within the town so as to unreasonably disturb any person or persons, or endanger the life and limb of any person, or the property of any person or corporation shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.”
